Computers 101 – Updating Your Acer Driver Easily With No Hassle

Acer is a brand that nearly everyone has heard of , and you have probably seen many of their promotions in computer fairs all over the world and you most certainly have seen their ads on television. They are among the top few computer brands in the world today and because of this, you will have had some awareness of them. Now if you have chosen to buy an Acer product, you might be coming across some of the more common driver problems that are associated with Acer and their products, and when you come to reckon about it, computing in general.

The more common driver problems that they might be getting is that you might find that the product refuses to launch, Windows itself does not recognise the product at all. Sometimes, the entire computer will crash and you know these are the tell tale signs that the computer has detected a driver problem with your Acer product. So what do you do, you may question and the answer is really simple. If you look at the whole arena of computer distress shooting, you would realise that it is imperative that you know the whole concept lies in brutal simplicity.

All you need to do is to treat the problem as it is. First, let us not reckon about the whole updating of the Acer driver, how about just refreshing the install, because you know there could be a thousand problems that have been associated with the initial install. So, all you need to do in this case is go through the motions of re installing the Acer device and watch the results. Half the time, this method works, and you would be well surprised on how simple it is to do so. When this doesn’t, then you need to update the Acer driver. If you are using the newer versions of Windows you would be well aware of its own driver depository and that it helps you go online and seek the latest version of the driver.

For most of the well loved brands out there, this is not really a huge problem, and you will be able to get your driver updated. If this does not work for some reason, you might want to consider going to Acer’s website and downloading the latest version from there. If this does not work, or there is no support or satellite website in your region, then what you can do is find a website that deals with many of the driver updates.

These are just private or user generated sites that really collect and collate as many of these drivers as possible and make it available to people all over the world and this is what you need to get yourself to. These are some of the methods that you can start updating your Acer driver easily and with no hassle at all, and the excellent thing about these ways are that they are proven and will work in any instance and quandary.

Lenovo ThinkPad Edge

The Edge 14 is the latest consumer and small business-oriented ThinkPad from Lenovo. Edge notebooks offer toned down looks compared to the SL and T-series ThinkPads, even including modified Chiclet-style keyboards. In this review, we take an in-depth look at the 14-inch ThinkPad Edge and see how well it stacks up against other similar notebooks.

Build and Design
The Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 14 has a consumer-driven design that goes a few steps beyond SL-series ThinkPads. While the SL-series looks like a ThinkPad with the rubbery paint replaced with matte-black paint, the Edge has a completely new shape and contrasting paint scheme. The borders of the screen cover and keyboard are trimmed with silver plastic. The top cover on our review unit is matte black, but Lenovo offers it in other colors too. Another subtle change is the standard indicator lights have been replaced with a single red LED that also happens to be the dot above the ThinkPad “i”. The design is so different from other ThinkPad models that if you were to cover the logo with another sticker, few people would recognize it as a ThinkPad (In fact, most people wouldn’t believe you right now even if you said it was a ThinkPad.)

Build quality is above average compared to consumer notebooks, but a step below business-grade ThinkPads. The screen hinges are noticeably smaller than what you might find on a standard ThinkPad; they are plastic-faced, not metal. ThinkPads have been known for strong screen hinges that last throughout the notebook’s life without wearing out. Some smaller models, like the X200, have used smaller hinges to complement the smaller design, but the hinges on the ThinkPad Edge feel weak in comparison. Unlike the Edge 13 we reviewed a couple of months ago, the Edge 14 doesn’t have the same glossy paint problems. Lenovo went with a matte end on the Edge 14, which has a much more consistent look and feel than a glossy end. That said, glossy end options are offered on the Edge 14 in “midnight black” and “heatwave red” colors.

The chassis feels strong and durable, with very small flex in the plastic panels. Unlike more expensive ThinkPad models, the Edge 14 doesn’t have an internal rollcage, but Lenovo still managed to keep the notebook pretty strong. The palmrest, touchpad and keyboard have no discernable flex under strong pressure and the frame doesn’t flex if you carry it by the corner of the palmrest. The only area of the Edge 14 that I want to see improvement is the screen cover. With moderate pressure you can see ripples form on the screen – a first for a ThinkPad model.

Users can easily upgrade components on the Edge 14 through two access panels on the bottom of the notebook. One panel houses the SIM-card and WWAN PCIe slot while the other is to access the system memory, CPU and hard drive. Our review model did not come with WWAN preinstalled and it lacked the needed connectors soldered in place for a future upgrade. Most ThinkPad models have offered the slots on all models, but it appears that if you want WWAN on the Edge 14, you should order it when you buy the notebook.

Screen and Speakers
The Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 14 comes with a glossy 14-inch WXGA panel. The panel rates average compared to other 13 and 14-inch screens we have reviewed. Color and contrast are including one on the 13.3-inch MacBook Pro and HP Envy 13. At its maximum backlight level, we measured a screen brightness of 224 cd/m2 at the center of the screen. Backlight uniformity was fantastic with the top, bottom and sides staying within 20 cd/m2. Viewing angles are average with colors starting to invert in 10-15 degrees titled forward or back.

The Edge 14 has lap-firing speakers located right below the front edge of the palmrest. If the notebook isn’t sitting on a flat desk surface, it is simple to cover the speaker grills and have sound muffled. The speakers are average compared to other CULV notebooks, lacking both bass and most mid-range sound. Though for basic listening purposes or streaming music or video, they should suffice. When watching movies, using headphones or a stereo connected through the Edge 14’s HDMI port would be a better option.

Keyboard and Touchpad
When I first saw the leaked images of the new ThinkPad keyboard, I have to admit I was less than pleased. The keyboard is one of the few remaining original and unchanged parts of ThinkPad notebooks. The layout has been updated over the years, but the keyboard could always be identified as “ThinkPad.” With the new design,Lenovo took a hint from other new keyboard designs hitting the market and blended a combination of form and function.

The keyboard takes a Chiclet/Island-style that’s common on notebooks ranging from the latest netbooks to the newest Apple MacBook, and merges it with a traditional ThinkPad design. What makes the keyboard unique is that it’s the first Chiclet keyboard I have found that’s very comfortable and simple to type on. Most Chiclet-style keyboards have flat top keys, different spacing and a shallower throw than a normal keyboard. The ThinkPad Edge 14 doesn’t have these problems, making an ideal hybrid keyboard that I can easily say is among the best implementations I have used to date.

Typing pressure and feedback is similar to a typical ThinkPad keyboard, so similar in fact that if you type with your eyes closed you might not even realize the key shape changed. The throw distance seems to be identical to my T60 with the same type of click sound made when fully pressed. Removing the keytops reveal the familiar scissor-action found in traditional ThinkPad keyboards. My best guess would be Lenovo kept the original frame and action assembly, only updating the keytops and adding an internal bezel structure. The change doesn’t compromise strength; it shows no flex under strong typing pressure.

HP Announces New Consumer Notebooks

Today HP announced the refresh of their entire consumer notebook lineup with new models following their MUSE design philosophy. MUSE, which stands for materials, usability, sensory appeal and experiences, is aimed at building and designing products that not only look excellent but have fantastic functionality. The model refresh includes notebooks from the Pavilion dv and dm-series as well as the ENVY lineup.

The ENVY brand sees a shift to larger models that free HP from the performance-limiting size constraints imposed by the ancient 13- and 15-inch offerings.. Today the ENVY 14 and ENVY 17 will be taking over with the previous models being slowly phased out as stock diminishes. Another huge change is the lowering of the starting price on both models. Currently the entry price of the ENVY 13 is $1,399 with the ENVY 15 priced slightly lower at $1,299. HP will be lowering the starting price of the ENVY 14 to $999 with the ENVY 17 starting at $1,399. The ENVY 17 will be available for buy May 19th and the ENVY 14 on June 27th.

The new ENVY 14 and 17 will have Intel processors, ATI Mobility Radeon dedicated graphics, backlit keyboards, slot-loading optical drives, HP TrueVision HD Webcams and custom Beats Audio sound systems.

The ENVY 17 will come standard with the ATI’s Mobility Radeon 5850 dedicated graphics card, fully supporting their EyeFinity Technology. HP showed off the ENVY 17 at their press event; DiRT 2 played fluidly across three monitors, making use of the ENVY 17’s VGA, HDMI, and DisplayPort-out connections.

The HP Pavilion dm-series is seeing a huge change, with the Intel-based dm3t being phased out. HP will still keep the dm3 around with the AMD-based dm3z. The dm4 will be added to the lineup, which will offer Intel dual-core processors and optional midrange ATI dedicated graphics. The dm4 will sport a chassis less than one inch thick and weigh 4.4lbs. It will also feature up to 640GB of storage and WLAN, WWAN, GPS and Bluetooth options.

The dv-series will also be seeing huge changes as models start getting design elements trickled down from the previous-generation ENVY models. HP is shifting away from keyboards with number pads on all notebooks smaller than 17 inches since they found most users didn’t find them comfortable to use. HP will instead focus on providing as much keyboard space as possible and omit touch-sensitive buttons that cluttered the area beneath the show. The new layout uses one-touch function-keys for media buttons. This was done to give the notebook a cleaner look as well as cut down on power consumption as the touch-sensitive buttons and LED lighting were a drain on the battery.

All new Pavilion dv-series notebooks also get redesigned Imprint finishes which combine matte and glossy elements to reduce the visibility of fingerprints and add texture. The new Imprint end has the pattern edges raised from the background color.

HP Pavilion dv5 Features:

  • Intel and AMD processors with quad-core support
  • 14.5-inch HD-resolution show
  • Up to 1TB of storage with 12.5mm hard drive support
  • Black cherry, champagne, and Sonoma red Imprint finishes.
  • Available May 19th with a starting price of $649.99

HP Pavilion dv6 Features:

  • Intel and AMD processors with quad-core support and high-end dedicated graphics options
  • 15.6-inch HD-resolution show with optional touch screen
  • Up to 1TB of storage with 12.5mm hard drive support
  • Brushed aluminum end or Black cherry, Champagne, and Sonoma red Imprint finishes.

The HP Mini 210 picked up two new color schemes, including preppy pink and white crystal.Dell latitude e6400 battery Preppy pink is the first use of 3-D PC surface technology. The plaid-like design has multiple layers which cast shadows and add depth compared to standard 2-D paint schemes. The new HP Mini 210 and Mini 110 with integrated battery will be available for buy June 15th. The starting prices are $354.99 and $279.99 respectively.

How Do I Buy The Best Netbook For 2010

A netbook is a small, light, cheap and extremely portable, but has the computing power in less than a full-sized laptop. But, it is well suited for general computing, word processing, running a web browser and Internet connection. Laptops are small, usually slightly less with 10-inch screen, but some images may or greater. It weighs 2.5 pounds and sold for less than $ 500 nowadays. Most of the netbooks come with Intel Atom processor with at least 1GB of RAM.

Released With the ever increasing demand of many companies design netbooks growing netbook models in the global market. Therefore, it is not simple to make the right choice for buying a netbook excellent for the buyer. For anyone who wants to buy a Netbook, here are some key features considered netbook:

Keyboard and touchpad
A keyboard of netbooks is usually smaller than a standard keyboard of full size laptops and range from 88-93% of the full-size keyboards. The keyboard layout of netbook is quite similar to the full size keyboard but key buttons on netbooks are smaller and closer.

But even if two netbooks have the same size keyboard, their layouts could be different and their keys are closer on some netbooks than others. If possible, please test out the keyboard to ensure they are large enough and user friendly.

Touchpad is one of features to consider. At present, a wide variety of touchpad have been developed and specially designed to offer a more comfortable experience during prolonged use. So, try out and get a touchpad that supports multi-touch gestures.

Screen size and show resolution
Netbooks generally come with a screen size which ranges from 7 to 12 inches. That’s a huge difference from the average 15 inches on a full-sized laptop. In order to choose which screen size is excellent enough for you, you should try to run your favorite programs and view your favorite websites on a variety of different sized screens.

Try to buy a screen size of 8.9 inches or larger otherwise the screen and its resolution might be too low and finally make it more hard to read. A 10-inch netbook usually has resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels and weighs less than 3 pounds whereas 11- and 12- inch netbooks usually have resolutions of 1280 x 800 and 1366 x 768 respectively and weigh a small bit more. But, when considering its price and weight together, a 10-inch screen is a perfect choice and is the best selling netbook size on the retailer’s site.

Processor
Intel Atom is the most common processor available for the netbooks (most of them run on the Intel Atom N or Z Series). Here you should go for the latest technologies because they are available with more efficiency and try not to buy an ancient netbook because you can face problem of speed and efficiency.

The latest Atom processor on netbooks for 2010 is Intel Atom N450 Processor (1.66 GHz). Most netbooks launched into the markets last year were Intel Atom N270 or N280 which are being replaced by new Intel Atom N450. We can notice that all processors on netbooks are slower than the standard processor on laptops, which is about 2.1 GHz. This means that a netbook will be slower when running heavier programs. So, you shouldn’t use a netbook for heavy processing, such as photo/video editing and gaming. But, netbooks are perfect for light processes like web surfing, email, and word processing.

Operating system (OS)
Netbooks are available for Linux and Windows operating systems and new netbooks have went to Windows 7 Starter, which is a lighter version of Windows 7 to help with load time and overall performance. As we all know about windows because that most people are familiar with the Windows layout as they have been using it for several years on their home and office computers.

You can also get a netbook with Linux, which is a much more basic and quicker operating system. Netbooks with Linux run fantastic for web surfing, email, and word processing via Open Office. But, Linux may be incompatible with some programs. Lastly, you can still find netbooks running on Windows XP or Vista.

Battery Life
Ancient notebook batteries usually come with 3-cell (less than 30 Wh) units but for new netbooks, they have upped their standard batteries to 6-cell units which can get you unplugged for about 6-9 hours while 3-cell systems usually get between 1 and 3 hours of endurance. If your job or work require traveling then you should look for the 6-cell option that can get you unplugged for about 6-9 hours on a single charge. These are small costly than 3-cell battery netbooks but can be very useful if your activities involve overseas travel or all-day classes.

After Intel has unveiled new Atom N450 processor, new netbooks can consume less power approximately 20% over previous netbook generation (e.g. Intel Atom N270, N280). New latest netbooks are coming with battery life of 10-14 hours such as models Asus Eee PC 1005PE-P, Asus Eee PC 100P, Acer A0532h and Toshiba Mini NB305-N410 (10-inch screen).

What’s New in the World of Pictures Upload

Online photo sharing has been around since the advent of the digital age. Polaroids stored in hard-cover albums have been replaced by digital pictures stored in photo sharing websites, blogs, and social networks. It can be hard to keep up with all the new features web applications such as Flickr, Photobucket, and PicsOrLinks provide. Here are 5 NEW things you can do with your uploaded pictures. Some of these features are advanced feats of development and others are clever uses of existing concepts. Some are well known, others are not.

Photosynth – Synth: Photosynth is a well loved new tool from Microsoft used to map a 3D environment with a group of pictures from several different sources. Photosynth uses your pictures to construct the actual object in a 3D render. You can click your way through every corner of the Eiffel Tower and contribute your own pictures to the “synth” for the world to see. Photosynth has even been showcased on some television shows and used to solve fake crimes. It’s an incredible way to bring a sense of life to your pictures.

PicsOrLinks – Embed Multiple Pics (EMP):
This a practical but powerful feature for heavy forum users. It allows you to forgo the tedious work of individually embedding a group of your pictures on your favorite forums/message boards. EMP also gives you the option to add a caption above each picture to tell a tale or provide descriptions. PicsOrLinks makes it really simple to share multiple pics from an event with your favorite communities. All the code is generated for you with the click of a button and you’re ready to share.

Flickr – Geotagging: Geotagging is the process of adding geographical identification metadata to pictures and other media. Several new digital cameras on the market come with geotagging functionality. It is a well known feature but its applications have improved greatly in the past year. Flickr now uses this technology to make maps from a user’s set of geotagged pictures. This allows users to browse through pics based on location instead of just album groupings. Users can also make intuitive displays of their journeys and view their pictures in a geographical context.

Photobucket & PicsOrLinks – Group/Event Albums: How many times have you been at a special event or gathering with several people taking pictures? It’s usually a pain to gather all the pictures in one place. Photobucket and PicsOrLinks make it simple with Group/Event Albums. They are basically albums with shared access for invited friends and family. Everyone can contribute pics to one huge pool for everyone to delight in. It’s a fantastic way to capture everything that happens at huge events like birthday parties and weddings.

Apple iPhoto – Faces: iPhoto is an endlessly useful tool every Mac user should try. iPhoto ‘09 was released recently with a new feature called Faces. Faces questions you to assign names to the people in your pics and uses facial recognition technology to detect and categorize those people for simple viewing. Faces and the rest of iPhoto ‘09 is seamlessly integrated with Facebook to make organization and sharing even simpler. Brilliant.

MSI Wind U160 Review

The Wind U160 is the latest Intel Pine Trail based-netbook from MSI boasting an impressive 15 hours of battery life. Like its sibling, the U135, which we reviewed in February, the U160 is equipped with the Intel Atom N450 and Intel GMA 3150. With a slightly larger battery and nearly identical parts configuration, can this new model beat the U135’s battery life of six hours and 30 minutes? Read our full review to find out.

MSI Wind U160 Specifications:

  • Windows 7 Starter Edition (32-bit)
  • 10.1-inch diagonal WSVGA (1024 x 600)
  • Intel Atom N450 Processor 1.66GHz (667MHz FSB, 512KB Cache)
  • 1GB DDR2 SDRAM onboard (1 slot available)
  • Intel GMA 3150 integrated graphics
  • 250GB Seagate 5400.6 hard drive
  • 802.11BGN Wi-Fi, Bluetooth
  • 4-in-1 media card slot
  • Dimensions: 10.24 x 7.09 x 0.74 inches
  • Weight: 2.4 pounds (not including weight of AC adapter)
  • 6-cell Lithium-ion battery (65Wh)

Build and Design
The MSI Wind U160 has a very excellent looking appearance with a glossy piano black end inside and out. Compared to the U135, MSI went with a cylindrical hinge design on the U160, which allows the extended battery to blend with the shape of the back of the netbook. Gateway and Sony have also used a similar design on some of their notebooks. The common trend with these configurations is including the power button at the end of the hinge, which MSI also does.

The battery design on the U160 elevates the rear of the notebook with the rear half of the battery pack sticking out under the computer. ASUS uses a similar scheme but works the wedge shape into the design making the lift less noticeable.

Build quality is very excellent with strong hinges, rigid body panels, and a nearly flex-proof frame. While the screen cover seems to resist flexing under strong finger pressure, the small bit of flex is transmitted into the LCD causing some mild distortion. Besides the screen cover, the rest of the system was very well-constructed. Paint quality was above average and resisted most mild scratches from day-to-day use.

Users looking to upgrade the Wind U160 will find simple access to the system memory, which is a common on most netbooks that only include 1GB of RAM-with an access cover on the back side. The hard drive and wireless card require the entire back panel to be removed to access them. Going that extra step isn’t terribly hard, but it may be overwhelming for someone who hasn’t previously dismantled a computer.

Screen and Speakers
The Wind U160 offers a 10-inch glossy LED-backlit show that rates below average compared to other similarly sized netbooks. On our review model, we noticed significant backlight bleed around the edges when the brightness is near the top of the scale. During the boot sequence, this is especially visible when the backgrounds are black.

Turning the backlight down to 50-70% reduced bleed, but it was still slightly visible if you were in a dark room watching a movie. Color and contrast are comparable to other competing netbooks thanks to the glossy screen surface. If there was less backlight bleed, it would be a fantastic machine to watch movies on while traveling.

At peak brightness, the screen is simple to read in bright office conditions and outdoors if you are in an area that the sun wasn’t reflecting off the screen. Viewing angles are average with the vertical viewing range spanning 15-20 degrees forward or back before colors started to invert. Horizontal viewing angles are better, keeping colors looking right even at steep angles.

The speakers on the U160 are lap-firing, meaning that if you have the netbook on your lap, the speakers sound muffled since they can be easily blocked by your clothing. When sitting on a flat desk surface, the speakers sound very crisp with clean high notes and some midrange. Low-frequency response is nonexistent, but expected for nearly all smaller netbooks and notebooks.

Keyboard and Touchpad
The MSI Wind U160’s keyboard is a nearly identical to the keyboard on the ASUS Eee PC 1005PE. They are Chiclet-style keyboards and share the same layout, key size and key shape. The only visible differences are the printed marks that appear bolded on the MSI version. Comparing both models side-by-side and the U160 feels more solid and attached to the frame, whereas the 1005PE’s keyboard bounces slightly. Tactile feedback is nearly alike, with the same key strength and noise when fully pressed.

The touchpad on the MSI Wind U160 seems rudimentary compared to most other notebooks and netbooks. Compared to the U135, MSI took a step in the right direction by including driver support. Webpage scrolling is limited to only touchpoints. I had to go into the menu to realize that you don’t scroll with a finger swiping action; instead you hold your finger in one of the finger-sensing zones to scroll. While it’s better than before, it still feels like a huge step back when compared to the latest multitouch touchpads on most notebooks and netbooks.

Ports and Features
Port selection on the MSI Wind U160 follows the industry average with three USB 2.0 ports,Sony VGP-BPS13A/B VGA-out, a SDHC-card reader, audio jacks, LAN and a Kensington lock slot. The Wind also features a dedicated wireless on/off switch to quickly disable the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth card without fumbling with keys or software settings.

Fear and the Vix Index – an Important Technical Indicator

Every so often, especially when markets are extremely volatile, the financial press remarks on the VIX index, which is considered one of the best ‘dread and greed’ indicators in the US market. There is no equivalent in the UK, but of course CFD traders can use other volatility measures such as standard deviation or average right range functions. Nevertheless, knowledge of the VIX is useful in measuring risk in terms of ‘dread’ levels.

The VIX was made as a measure of implied volatility in the US, and followed on from the development of work in the options market relating implied and historic volatilities. It is widely used now as a useful snapshot of market psychology.

Development of the Vix

The first VIX was developed by in a paper by Professor Robert E. Whaley of Duke University. It was presented to the Chicago Board Options Exchange in 1993, and it started with a weighted measure of the implied volatility of eight S&P 100 index “at the money” place (right to sell) and call (right to buy) options. An “at the money” option means that the option chosen gives the right to buy or sell at a level close to or at the underlying market price, and the premium for each option thus reflects the implied volatility of the index.

Ten years later, the CBOE expanded the range of options and based it on the broader S&P 500 index, which gave a more accurate view of future market volatility.

The VIX formula uses a kernel-smoothed (statistically weighted) estimator that takes as inputs current market prices for all “out of the money” (options containing only time value) calls and puts for the next month and second month expirations. From this, an estimation of the implied volatility of a synthetic, “at the money” option on the S&P 500 index with 30 days to expiry is made.

What the VIX level indicates

The VIX is quoted in terms of percentage points and represents in essence the expected movement in the S&P 500 index over the next 30 day period, which is then annualized.

If say the VIX is at 15, this represents an expected annual change of 15% in the index. From this it can be inferred that index option pricing expects the S&P 500 to go up or down 4.33% over the next 30 day period (15% divided by the square root of 12). You can see the similarity to standard deviation measurements here.

So if the S&P 500 stands at 1500, this means that index options are priced with the assumption of a 68% likelihood (one standard deviation) that the 30 day change in the S&P 500 will be less than 64 points up or down.

For this reason, the VIX pricing is different to many other technical indicators, and the rule of thumb is that a VIX level above 30 reflects a large amount of volatility as a result of investor dread or uncertainty. Levels under 20 are generally seen in quieter, less volatile market conditions.

Because the VIX aims to measure market sentiment, it works out how much people are willing to pay to buy options on the stockmarket, and because it is viewed as a measure of ‘dread’ this would usually represent the price of place options to protect against declines.

During very cool periods, the VIX may head down towards around 12, but it is very rare for it to go much lower – there has to be a price for taking an option on market movements but silent the background may seem.

At the other end of the scale, values above 60 have been seen during market panics. What many traders often look for is a sharp reversal in the VIX to indicate or confirm a possible turning point. A VIX price of 60 would mean it is five times more expensive to buy options than in the quietest times (VIX of 12), and these levels do not typically last long.

The VIX can really be traded itself and there are both futures and options on the indicator.

A word of warning

Although the VIX is used as an vital representation of overall sentiment for equity options, this is not strictly right. The VIX, being an index-based implied volatility measurement, has a slightly different dynamic to individual equity option pricing. Occasionally, equity and index options are uncorrelated, and in particular, the VIX is limited to a 30 day period measurement, while for equity options, the most liquidity is usually found between two and six months to expiry.

The other point is that market movements often relate to how much influence ‘flavour of the month’ sectors have on the index. It might be highly volatile in financial stocks, with the current sub-prime crisis a case in point, and if the weighting of these sectors is high, it might influence traders in the pricing of options in other, less volatile sectors.

Nokia 5230- An Express Solution

Nokia launches its new Nokia 5230, a device that runs on S60 5th edition on Symbian and includes the major key features like a camera with 2.0 megapixel resolution, a show screen of 3.2” dimension, a home screen Contacts Bar, Media Bar, A-GPS and 3.5mm audio jack. While looking at some of its features it will give you more of a reason to look for few Nokia 5230 Deals.

Nokia 5230 has features similar to Nokia 5800 for example: a FM radio, 3.2 inches resistive touch screen having a resolution of 640 x 360 pixels, 3.5 mm audio jack, FM radio and a microSD card slot. Even though the camera’s resolution factor is bit downloaded to 2 megapixel, it has still managed to take out the decent VGA@30fps video recording.

Nokia 5230 is powered by a 1320 mAh battery. The battery is capable of running the phone for 33 hours even though if the music is played non-stop. The UI is supported by a kinetic scrolling so that the users of the model can just press in order to slide on the screen. They can even scroll down on the list, and also can slow down to come to a halt. The UI is very responsive but found out to be slightly resistive and thus the overall feel is excellent which gives you more than a few reasons to Buy Nokia 5230.

The audio quality of the Nokia 5230 meets the user’s expectations and looks impressive since the sound quality seems to be coming from a excellent music system. The loud speakers are brilliant with their loud sound with excellent clarity and also the sound via the headphone is fantastic.

Nokia 5230 supports an brilliant web browsing facility with supporting mark-up languages like WML, SHTML and HTML. A 2.0 megapixel camera can support images of type JPEG. Video formatting is done in user friendly .mp4 and .3gp formats.

Finding Cheap Nokia 5230 is not a hard task since Nokia has a habit of launching devices at such an affordable cost which suits people of every class. It will be available both ways through retail stores and carriers so look for the best deal before you make a final choice. You don’t get to choose the level of equipment like you would when buying a car. So, until that becomes available – if ever – we cannot see a better dealing with the problem than Nokia’s approach.

No matter who you are, you can now update your Twitter to whatever is on your mind as long as it is within Twitter’s 140 character limit, that is.

Once you sign yourself up for a Twitter account and following people, you start to notice that wide array of customized Twitter pages out there. The largest part of Twitter customizing is the backgrounds for the pages. Soon you will be ready to venture out into the world of having your very own customized background. The follow steps can be taken to secure your very own customized Twitter background to express yourself on the hottest social media website.

First of all, if you are not signed up with Twitter yet, do so! The only way to customize your Twitter background is by having an account in the fist place. After you have your very own Twitter page, you are going to have to choose on what type of background you want. If you do not already have a picture to use, a quick Google search will open up a plethora of sites that offer free backgrounds for you. Once you have chose on a background, save it to your hard drive where you will easily find it again when the time comes to use it.

Next you will need to log into your Twitter home page. Once this is done you will see a link on the top of the page near the right hand side that reads “Settings”, this is where all of the settings are that will help turn your Twitter page from generic to a reflection of yourself.

After you load the settings page, you’ll see tabs with various options on them. The tab you want is the “design” tab. This is where the makeover on your Twitter page will start. Any time you want to revamp the look of your page you will need to use this tab to change your background and other theme settings within your profile.

The first thing you’re going to see when you load up the design tab are preloaded for you to use if you do not have the time to make a theme of your own. Choosing one of these generic themes will change the background on your page as well, but if you want to customize it further by using a picture that you like, just scroll down further and find the link that says “change background image.” Clicking on this will bring up a box with a browse button where you will then be able to load the picture you chose on using earlier.

The final option you will need to choose is if you want to tile the background. If you’re unfamiliar with what this is, it is exactly how it sounds: it repeats your picture throughout the entire page over and over again. If you’d rather just have a single image, make sure this box is not checked off.

Finally, save your changes and you should immediately see your groundbreaking new, customized Twitter background.

Running Gear Review: Nike+ vs. Garmin Forerunner 205/305 GPS

As a gadget and tech junkie, it was to my excellent fortune that my initiation into the world of distance running roughly coincided with the appearance on the market of several new high-tech running gadgets: the Garmin Forerunner 205 and 305, and the Nike+ system. I have used both the Garmin Forerunner 205 and Nike+ for greater than 6 months each, and what follows is a review and comparison of my experiences with them.

The Nike+ System

Back in 2007, I was just beginning my life as a runner, and I was looking for tools to help me progress. The Garmin Forerunner and Nike+ systems both had instant appeal to my techie side, but I was initially hesitant to invest the several hundred dollars (at the time) needed to buy a Forerunner. I was also swept up in the excitement surrounding the introduction of the Nike+ system, and my first pair of “real” running shoes were Nike+ ready. Since I owned an Ipod Nano, and had shoes that could accommodate the small Nike+ foot pod accelerometer internally, I chose to give Nike + a try. In the interest of full disclosure, I’ll say at the outset that I no longer use the Nike+. But, that doesn’t necessarily mean that I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone since it does have its benefits and uses. The Nike+ certainly helped my running in those early days, and the motivation provided by the on-line Nike+ challenges was fantastic. I liked being able to gauge my pace, track distance, and record my runs on-line. But for a perfectionist like myself, the Nike+ has some major drawbacks.

The most serious problem I had with the Nike+ was that it was only really accurate if I ran at the same steady pace on every run, and stuck to more-or-less flat ground. Any deviation from the pace you calibrate it at messes up both the pacing data as well as the distance recording for your run, and at times I found these measurements to be quite far off. Now, for many runners this is not a huge deal, but if you like to mix up your training and include things like intervals, tempo runs, and long, slow runs, the Nike+ comes up way small. Furthermore, for me as a road racer, tenths of a mile and accurate pacing data matter a lot, so these shortcomings presented some major problems. That being said, I’m glad that I used it, and it did help a lot when I first started out. Even after I upgraded to the Garmin Forerunner 205, I did still continue to use Nike+ for treadmill runs (this probably goes without saying, but GPS doesn’t work on a treadmill). The Nike+ recordings on a treadmill are accurate enough, and in my case are more accurate than the readout of my treadmill’s own data console (it has never worked quite right for some reason).

I do believe that the Nike+ can be a valuable tool for a new or recreational runner. It’s cheap (less than $30.00), so it won’t dent your wallet too much if you choose you don’t like it, and the website and on-line community associated with Nike+ are both motivational and fascinating. If you’re a new runner just starting out, or an experienced runner who tends to run most of your runs at the same pace, then the Nike+ would be a fantastic addition to your running toolbox, and would surely provide some motivation for you to hit the road. But, as mentioned above, it has some major drawbacks for a serious runner who cares about missing tenths of a mile or needs really accurate pacing information.

Garmin Forerunner 205/305 GPS Wristwatch

If you want a personal running computer that will allow you to take your running to the next level and permit you to mix up your training runs with speed and long distance, you’re going to need something more than Nike+. I, unfortunately, am a perfectionist, and the inaccuracy of the pacing and distance data provided by Nike+ continually bugged me (and I was growing tired of mapping my runs on-line to figure out actual distances that I had covered). So, after about six months of consistent use, I chose to relegate the Nike+ to the treadmill only, and I questioned Santa for a Garmin Forerunner 205 for Christmas. Sure enough, the fancy new GPS wristwatch was in my stocking, and it has not been absent from my wrist during a run in over a year. Simply stated, this is one of the coolest and most useful gadgets of any kind that I own, and it has allowed my running to progress in ways that probably would not have otherwise occurred.

First, let me clarify the difference between the two current-generation Garmin Forerunner models (a fancy new waterproof model is on the way – the Garmin Forerunner 310 XT – but I’ll clarify in a bit why I’d still go for one of the current ones for now if you’re considering a buy). The two current models are the Forerunner 205 and the Forerunner 305. The only real differences between the two watches (besides color – the 205 is blue, and the 305 is red) are that the 305 can sync with an included heart rate monitor, an optional foot pod accelerometer (for the treadmill), and an optional speed-and-cadence sensor for your bike. Otherwise, from what I can gather, they are virtually identical. Given the minor price difference between the two Forerunners (about $10.00-$15.00 more for the 305), it would seem to make sense to go with the 305 if you’ve chose to buy a Forerunner.

So, I have now been using the Forerunner 205 regularly for over a year, and I have absolutely nothing but excellent things to say about it. The pacing data is right on (I have run enough chip-timed races with the 205 to verify this), as is the distance data. In addition to time, current pace, and distance, I have three data screens (which is the max on the 205/305) set up to show such variables as average pace, elevation, percent grade, calories burned, and time of day. Of all of these, the only one that seems somewhat iffy from time to time is the elevation, though if you smooth it out in one of the training programs that sync with the Forerunner, elevation patterns look pretty excellent as well. So far, I have pretty much exclusively used the Forerunner in its most basic mode – to simply track my data while I run. It is possible to configure things like training/pacing partners and interval workouts on the watch, and to use it as a (very) basic real-time GPS mapping device for things like hiking, but I haven’t used it much for this. In addition to running, I have used it while walking, snowshoeing, and biking (less extensively), and it works fantastic for all of the above.

For me, the two features that matter most from a training and racing standpoint are accurate pacing and distance measurements, and as I said above this is where the Forerunner blows away the Nike+. I really trust the Forerunner more than most of the on-line mapping programs when it comes to calculating distance, and being able to import all of my data into the computer is fantastic. For the latter, I have skipped the included Garmin Training Center software and instead use an incredible, free program called Sportracks. Sportracks downloads all of the data from the Forerunner and lets you look at it in nearly any way that you could possibly want. Among other things, Sportracks gives you GPS route maps, tons of data graphing options (e.g., pace vs. distance, pace vs. elevation, mile splits, etc.), and keeps a detailed running log that includes run times/dates, weather conditions pulled from the internet, distances run, and calories burned. As a scientist who likes data, Garmin Forerunner + Sportracks makes me one very pleased runner.

A few last comments about some potential concerns with the Forerunner bear mentioning. One of the concerns I initially had about these watches was their size. Yes, they are huge, but I have never noticed it as a nuisance while running, and I really reckon the size is a positive rather than a negative since it makes it simpler to read your data on the go. This is one of the major reasons why I would probably not consider upgrading to the newer and smaller Forerunner 405 – if you pack too many data streams on a small screen then things could get dreadful hard to read at mile 20 of a marathon. The other concern someone in the market for a GPS watch might have is the forthcoming new Garmin Forerunner 310 XT, which is waterproof to 50m and offers wireless data transfer. It would take a lot of new bells and whistles for me to spend an extra $100-$200 to choose to buy the new 310 XT over the current 205 or 305. The new watch looks sportier, and the wireless sync feature is nice, but I don’t really care if I can dive to 50m with it on. If for some reason I’m out for a run and I wind up 50m underwater, I probably won’t be resurfacing to make it back home anyway (though in all seriousness, I can see how the 310 XT might be useful to a triathlete). For me, I’ll stick with the 205/305.

Hopefully I’ve given you a feel for what the Garmin Forerunner 205/305 can do. Really, there’s probably a lot more that it is capable of than what I have discussed here, but the best way to experience it is to try it out. As a runner who has now completed 1,266.01 miles (did I mention that I like accuracy!) with the Garmin Forerunner 205 (and it’s still going strong, with no major problems), I can honestly say that next to my running shoes, this is the most essential piece of running gear that I own. I highly recommend the Forerunner – get one and you won’t be disappointed.

How to Extend Dell Latitude D630 Laptop Battery Life?

Laptop computer batteries often run out of power sooner than would be desired. Here are some tips for making them last longer between charges…

Screensaver: Change your laptop’s screensaver to a blank (Black) screen, and set it to turn on within a few minutes of inactivity. Screensavers with graphics and sound effects will drain the power more quickly, whereas a blank screen will conserve power.

Hard Drive & Disk Drive: Avoid using the hard drive and disk drive excessively. Because these are mechanical mechanisms, they consume more power. In some cases, upgrading the amount of memory will reduce hard drive usage. If your dell latitude d630 laptop is set to run anti-virus scans periodically, only allow this to happen when you have it connected to AC power, because this substantially increases hard drive usage while it is running. If you are using an older laptop with no hard drive, consider using a VDISK or RAMDISK (read more here) to reduce disk drive usage.

Sound/Music: If you want to listen to music while operating the computer, consider using a separate radio, cassette recorder, or CD player. If the CD player’s batteries run out, you will be able to keep using the computer, which is probably your higher priority.

USB Devices: If your dell latitude d630 laptop computer has a USB port, keep in mind that some USB devices draw power from the computer’s battery while they are plugged in to it. Avoid leaving such devices plugged in longer than they need to be.

Software: Different software which accomplishes the same functions may cause your dell latitude d630 battery computer to use different amounts of power. If the software utilizes memory more effectively (rather than reading/writing to the disk or hard drive frequently), it may use less power. Software which places less demand on the processor can also reduce power consumption in some cases, along with programs which use a dark-colored background. Avoid running software directly from a 3.5″ disk or CD-ROM, because it will cause these mechanisms to run frequently and drain the power more quickly.

It’s offered in four different sizes, meaning that whatever size set you happen to be looking for, chances are you’ll find it in this lineup. So whether you want a giant screen set to place in your living room or den, or if you just want something small to place in the bedroom or your kitchen, or even if you want something in between that can look at home in any room of the house, one of the sizes offered in this new line is sure to do just the trick for your needs, but huge or small.

The four sizes are thirty two inches (the Sony KDL32EX403U), thirty seven inches, forty inches and forty six inches. The thirty inches are likely to be very well loved, as they’re nice and compact, with a gorgeous flat screen, so they fit anywhere in your house. The forty six inch screen is likely to be their second best seller as simply a modestly sized, but still huge enough, huge screen set for the living room or den. The thirty two inch Sony KDL32EX403U set is probably going to be a hot item simply because of how capable it really is for such a small HDTV set. People will be wanting to buy it just because it’s nearly a piece of history, giving some of the clearest and best possible quality picture in a relatively small screen. It really looks like a huge screen television has been shrunk down into a thirty two inch package.

So it’s surprising that the Sony KDL32EX403U thirty two inch screen looks so incredibly excellent. It’s really full on hi-def television, not some dinky, halfway-there sort of solution to all of your problems. It looks like a sixty inch television packed into just thirty two inches of screen space. And of course, it has all the same features as the larger television sets. The whole series boasts all of the features you’ve come to expect from the modern television set. This includes, of course, HDMI compatibility. This means that you can just plug your Blu Ray player or your Xbox or Playstation right into the set and you’re excellent to go. You really do get the best possible picture quality with HDMI, so of course, Sony isn’t going to be left behind.

Not to mention, you can take that ancient laptop or Mac Mini that you don’t use anymore, drag it out of the closet, and use it as your home entertainment console paired with the Sony KDL32EX403U. This is really well appreciated for anyone who has a huge Netflix queue or iTunes library that they wouldn’t mind being able to delight in on a real television set any time they please. The USB helps, too, allowing you to check your digital photos on your TV or plug an MP3 player into your sound system. So, bottom line? If you’re looking for a new HDTV set, you really can’t do much better than the Sony KDL32EX403U series. It has all the up to date features, fantastic picture and sound quality, and it comes in four different sizes, so you’re sure to find one that fits your needs like a glove.
